Too often, they prevent your browser from working properly and opening websites when you need it.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/b83\/386\/930\/b833869308cd7c7ac37296ce6aaf1cd1.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/b83\/386\/930\/b833869308cd7c7ac37296ce6aaf1cd1.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>  You can check the computer for viruses with one of the many popular antivirus products. They are so numerous that it is hardly a good idea to mention all of them. However, you are welcome to watch one of our videos about getting rid of viruses, Trojans and adware.<\/p>\n<h2>Configure the proxy server in your browser<\/h2>\n<p>  If you removed all viruses and unwanted software but your browser is still playing tricks with you by refusing to open any websites, it\u2019s time to check local network settings for your computer. Here is how you do it:<\/p>\n<p>  Go to Control Panel \u2013 Internet Options (in Windows 7, this item has the same name).<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/90b\/fdb\/cf6\/90bfdbcf6544444e70b25c921de4fbd1.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/90b\/fdb\/cf6\/90bfdbcf6544444e70b25c921de4fbd1.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>  In the tab Connections click LAN settings. If you have the checked box next to Use a proxy service for your LAN\u2026, uncheck it and check the box next to Automatically detect settings instead.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/4c1\/2b5\/586\/4c12b5586bcb29331016b1d4c0643303.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/4c1\/2b5\/586\/4c12b5586bcb29331016b1d4c0643303.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/09e\/d51\/1ad\/09ed511ad6ab86dc05f107f5c89a4d40.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/09e\/d51\/1ad\/09ed511ad6ab86dc05f107f5c89a4d40.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>  You can also open the proxy server settings menu from the browser. For Google Chrome, Opera and Yandex Browser the steps are similar:<\/p>\n<p>  go to Menu \/ Settings \/ Advanced,<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/01e\/8c2\/e80\/01e8c2e809acc02742f866a7434d045d.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/01e\/8c2\/e80\/01e8c2e809acc02742f866a7434d045d.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>  and click on Change proxy settings. Then follow the steps I have shown before.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/41f\/315\/9da\/41f3159da96777ec9d84f069afbb2969.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/41f\/315\/9da\/41f3159da96777ec9d84f069afbb2969.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>  In Mozilla Firefox:<\/p>\n<p>  go to Menu \u2013 Options \u2013 General \u2013 Network Settings \u2013 Settings.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/840\/352\/e35\/840352e350b41f14501a7a7b3cf6a121.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/840\/352\/e35\/840352e350b41f14501a7a7b3cf6a121.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>  When the menu Connection Settings opens, select Use system proxy settings.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/ffb\/680\/bba\/ffb680bbac8daacd3afa798c1fa2f8f8.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/ffb\/680\/bba\/ffb680bbac8daacd3afa798c1fa2f8f8.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>  In Internet Explorer, go to Service\/ Browser Properties.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/726\/5e7\/0e5\/7265e70e5bb50871679303968c7995fa.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/726\/5e7\/0e5\/7265e70e5bb50871679303968c7995fa.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>  Then follow the instructions above.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/846\/650\/784\/8466507840437a4cad5f429ae0e0c926.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/846\/650\/784\/8466507840437a4cad5f429ae0e0c926.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>  In Microsoft Edge, go to Menu \/ Settings \/ Advanced and click on Open proxy settings.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/ccf\/ace\/5f0\/ccface5f0adaa72f50b34bcb32dca538.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/ccf\/ace\/5f0\/ccface5f0adaa72f50b34bcb32dca538.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>  If manual proxy setup is enabled, turn it off and then go to the tab Automatic proxy setup to activate Automatically detect settings.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/e56\/63b\/408\/e5663b40802ddf02b766162658ab2486.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/e56\/63b\/408\/e5663b40802ddf02b766162658ab2486.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<h2>Open the registry editor for AppInit_DLLs<\/h2>\n<p>  If the browser won\u2019t open websites even after proxy setup operations, you should check the entry AppInit_DLLs in the registry editor. Here is how you do it:<\/p>\n<p>  Run Registry Editor.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/0cf\/11f\/5ed\/0cf11f5ede735d783d5717678b08ecc5.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/0cf\/11f\/5ed\/0cf11f5ede735d783d5717678b08ecc5.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>  Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion\\Windows\\.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/2ff\/8ca\/880\/2ff8ca88087fc097cd86ff7f14e6307c.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/2ff\/8ca\/880\/2ff8ca88087fc097cd86ff7f14e6307c.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>  Right-click on the entry AppInit_DLLs and click Modify.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/571\/a61\/879\/571a61879fe1b1f2bae12cb55ff34c9d.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/571\/a61\/879\/571a61879fe1b1f2bae12cb55ff34c9d.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>  If in the Value line you can see the path to any .dll file (for example, C:\\filename.dll), it should be deleted. Before that, copy the path to that file, clear the line and click \u041eK.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/611\/778\/0fd\/6117780fdd5aa5b3a37e2e970f94edae.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/611\/778\/0fd\/6117780fdd5aa5b3a37e2e970f94edae.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>  Then paste this path to the file explorer, enable the option Show hidden files and delete this file as well as any other suspicious .exe files which are in the found folder.<\/p>\n<p>  Once again, go to the Registry Editor, find the entry AppInit_DLLs in the section HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion\\Windows\\, and repeat the steps I have described above, then restart the computer.<\/p>\n<h2>Check the Hosts file<\/h2>\n<p>  The next step should be checking the file Hosts. It can be found by following this path \u2013 C:\\Windows\\System32\\drivers\\etc.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/6ac\/dc5\/5c8\/6acdc55c84c2e13fdd3a86bc41845e5c.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/6ac\/dc5\/5c8\/6acdc55c84c2e13fdd3a86bc41845e5c.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>  Open it with Notepad and read the values. If the last line #::1 localhost is followed by other lines with IP addresses \u2013 delete them, save changes in Notepad and restart the computer.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/34f\/b6e\/dcb\/34fb6edcbb0c027e185e86cb8478d600.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/34f\/b6e\/dcb\/34fb6edcbb0c027e185e86cb8478d600.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<h2>DNS Server<\/h2>\n<p>  If your browser still won\u2019t open any websites, there may be a problem with the DNS server. To check this server, here\u2019s what you do:<\/p>\n<p>  Go to Network and Sharing Center, and click on the connection name next to the line Connections.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/d5c\/60f\/ec8\/d5c60fec82ce9bc0ce173e5033bf933b.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/d5c\/60f\/ec8\/d5c60fec82ce9bc0ce173e5033bf933b.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>  Choose Properties and click on IP version 4 \/ Properties.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/882\/769\/9a6\/8827699a640daee5915149a725e5364e.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/882\/769\/9a6\/8827699a640daee5915149a725e5364e.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>  Select Use the following DNS server addresses and enter these values:<\/p>\n<p>  preferred DNS server \u2013 8.8.8.8;<br \/>  alternate DNS server \u2013 8.8.4.4;<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/d15\/017\/194\/d150171947f51390cd75796e3667efa0.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/d15\/017\/194\/d150171947f51390cd75796e3667efa0.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>  After that, try opening any webpage with your browser.<\/p>\n<h2>Clear the DNS cache<\/h2>\n<p>  If nothing helps, try clearing the DNS cache. Here is how you do it:<\/p>\n<p>  aunch the Command prompt as Administrator and type the following command: ipconfig \/flushdns. This command will clear the DNS cache.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/c1c\/9bf\/bd6\/c1c9bfbd6eba5dc6f82612912e61c913.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/c1c\/9bf\/bd6\/c1c9bfbd6eba5dc6f82612912e61c913.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>  Then enter the command route -f. This command will clear the route table from all gateway entries.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/r\/w780q1\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/351\/625\/585\/3516255854c148ec53904003a7c0fe07.jpg\" alt=\"image\" data-src=\"https:\/\/habrastorage.org\/getpro\/habr\/post_images\/351\/625\/585\/3516255854c148ec53904003a7c0fe07.jpg\" data-blurred=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>  When you see the Ok message, close the Command Prompt and restart the computer.<\/p>\n<p>  The steps we have described in this article should help you fix the problem with your browser.
